Charity partners and donations
How much will you donate to charity?
We will donate 10% of the value of your order (not including postage or VAT) to the cause you selected while shopping at bookkind.co.uk. If you did not select a cause, your donation will be directed to our ‘featured charity’ at the point of purchase.
What is the ‘featured charity’?
At certain times of the year we will dedicate extra attention to a specific charity to help raise awareness of a particular campaign or cause.
During this period, the ‘featured charity’ will be auto-selected as the beneficiary of donations (which can be manually changed) and will receive additional prominence across our site and in our communications.
Are there any deductions from the amount donated?
After postage and VAT has been removed, 10% of the value of your order will be donated to the charity of your choice. Thankfully, print books are VAT-exempt in the UK, so VAT will only be deducted from VATable products, such as bags, clothing, jigsaw puzzles, etc.
What about donations that are made using Work for Good?
Work for Good is a fundraising platform that simplifies the legal process involved in making donations to UK charities. We donate to two of our charity partners, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Dementia UK, using the Work for Good platform. 5% (plus VAT) of the value of all donations made using the Work for Good platform is deducted to cover administration fees.
How did you select which charities to work with?
The charities we work with have been selected by the team as representing causes we feel passionate about. We wanted to support a wide range of different causes and not just focus on the most well known charity brands who are - in many cases - already very well funded. Find out more about our charity partners and the great work they do.
Are the books recommended chosen by the charities themselves?
Most of the books featured on our charity landing pages are carefully selected by the BookKind team of literary experts. While we collaborate closely with many of our charity partners to highlight authors and topics that matter to them, unless otherwise noted, these organizations do not specifically recommend or endorse any individual books or products featured here.
How do I become a charity partner?
We choose to work with a limited number of charities and develop long-term meaningful partnerships to help raise donations and awareness. If you are part of a charity organisation who would like to work with BookKind, please email bookkind@monwell.co.uk to see if this is a possibility.
